From the original (which I still have, by the way), to Game Boy Pocket (a smaller version), to Game Boy Color, to our current Game Boy Advance.
When Game Boy Colour came out Sega could no longer claim that Nintendo didn't have a portable colour system. In fact, back in 1992, Nintendo responded to the question why their wasn't a portable colour system. They said it would quickly drain battery power and be heavy. Turns out, both colour systems can run for 15 hours on 2 regular AA batteries (the original used 4). It was thinking of getting a GBC, since I was frustrated that every game that came out wouldn't work on the old Game Boy. I decided to wait for Advance because it can play all the old games.
Game Boy advance is a 32-bit system, and it can easily play any Super NES game if released on a cartridge, which is the case of F-Zero, Super Mario Brothers 2 and Super Mario World, both rerelased this year. Even the Cartridges themselves are half the size. The system is like a pocket Super NES. I hope that their will be an adapter that lets You play all Your old Super NES games.
As stated before, the system has downward complatability which is a huge plus for the system. You can play all Your old Pokemon games and regular Game Goy games as well, they all work fine.
Even better You can even use Advance as a Nintendo GameCube controller. You only get one regular controller so if You have Advance You can buy a special adapter and make Advance a second controller. Pretty Cool, huh? Unfortunately, You need a special Adapter to plug in Your Advance or use batteries all the time. Another thing is their is no game included. I miss the old days when Nintendo always included a game with its systems You got everything You need to enjoy the system. Those days are over. However, these disadvantages are far outweighed by the great graphics and ability to play old games on the go. It's definitely worth the $100 price.
Return to the list of characters
Go to My main webpage
