Where am I?" In the eight edition of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers newsletter. "Weird! Weird!" It's not that weird. This newsletter features Teen Beat's interview with Karan Ashley, Terri Ann C.'s spotlight on Steve Cardenas, B A C L 's movie review, info. on Power Ranger mistakes, and more, more, more! :) So, hold on because 'it's going to be one messy night.' (How that fits in--I have no idea.) IMPORTANT: MIGHTY RAW IS _NOT_ GOING TO BE FIRED -- THE PEOPLE OF SABAN ENTERTAINMENT ARE NOT SURE IF THEY ARE GOING TO LET HIM DO PROJECTS AND KEEP HIS FORM OF MUSIC! I'M SORRY -- FOCUS YOUR LETTERS ON HIM DOING FUTURE PROJECTS AND HIS STYLE OF MUSIC! THANKS! AND, SEND YOUR MIGHTY RAW LETTERS TO XSENTAIX AND TELL ME SO I CAN GIVE YOU A POINT. IF YOU'VE ALREADY TOLD ME YOU WRITTEN A LETTER, TELL ME AGAIN!!! Welcome to new member, GroovyScru. He did the animation and worked in the FX department in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. Goodbye to AW94, who wants off my damn list and to FSUDog, who I forgot to take off the list previously. Chris1778 was the first one who got the quote (Kimberly and Billy in "Power Ranger Punks" right. He gets two points.) IF YOU'RE ON AOL, DON'T MISS TONIGHT'S CHAT IN THE POWER RANGER CHAT ROOM (Keyword: People, List rooms; create room; Type: Power Rangers.) It's not a private room! It will be tonight at 5:30 PM PST/8:30PM EST. THE TIME IS AN HOUR EARLIER!!!! However, the sim will NOT be tomorrow, but it will be in a private room to keep out unwanted people, when we start it on the 14th! MMPR: TM is being promoted by Comfort Inns/Suites. All you get is a MMPR activity book that talks about safety. Yeah, right. Who's going to stay at a crappy little hotel just to get a little activity book? BTW, does anyone know if there's one in Hollywood............. BTW, in my dance class (Which ended today with a recital type thingee--don't ask me! ) all I do all day is say "Morphinomenal" and speak into my watch. Everyone tells me to shut up and sings "Go Go Power Rangers" all day to taunt me. I just sing along. Anyway, what I want to say is that the little kids (6-8) are embarrassed to watch the show. I asked anyone if they've ever seen it and everyone's like "Power Rangers--never saw it and never want to." Then, later, when they learn I LIKE it and am not trying to make fun of them or anything, they say "Well, I only watched a couple of episodes." If kids are embarrassed and adults are embarrassed, this show is in trouble! The weird thing is that teenagers aren't embarrassed--Power Rangers is IN now. If you don't have any Power Ranger merchandise in school, you are definitely in trouble. Of course, my room...let's just say...is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY IN, if Power Rangers is! :) For those of you who think Bakersfield (Where I live and XSENTAIX used to live), here's some info. you might want to know about some of the kids down here: A girl named Stephanie or something played Kelly on "Enter...the Lizzinator." A boy (I have the article but am too lazy to look for it) played Little Bulk on "Rangers Back In Time Part I." AND, NOW...a girl will play the "Bulk-and-Skull" of Masked Rider! Cool, huh? I never met her but she went to my acting workshop. Her name is Libby Letlow and she's 15. THE WORST PART OF ALL IS ALL OF THESE ACTORS/ACTRESSES GOT THEIR PARTS FROM THE AGENCY IN BAKERSFIELD THAT I USED TO BE IN! AND, I QUIT A LONG TIME AGO (Right when I got an agent). IF I HAD NOT QUIT, I BET I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE SHOW TOO...AND, NOW WE CAN'T FIND A WAY TO GET BACK IN! :( AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember, send in your pictures of yourself for the newsletter. If you want to include your picture, e-mail MAXMOUZE (a.k.a. MAXMOUZE@aol.com) and I'll give you the info. :) THE QUOTES The answer to last week's quote #1 ("You know, there were times when I wanted to give up but I kept on trying...") was said by Kimberly to Kelly in "Enter...the Lizzinator." Kelly had self-doubts about trying out for the cheerleading auditions and Kimberly says that line sitting on a swing beside Kelly. Only XSENTAIX got this right but most people thought it was Adam in "Mirror of Regret." I think he said something about "Practice makes perfect. You've got to keep practicing until you get it right." The second quote ("Heeerrreeee you go!") is one that I say all the time. It was said by Kimberly in "Putty on the Brain." Kimberly was handing back tests in Mrs. Applebee's class and she goes to either Billy and Zack, hands them their paper, and says "Heeeerrreeee you go." But, Zack and Billy see a putty handing them their paper and saying "Heeeeerrreeeee you go" so they're really confused. GOOD NEWS--If you get an answer wrong, your score WON'T GO BACK TO 0. That is a drag so forget it! I just read someone else's newsletter about losing a contest means going back to 0 but that's his contest and this is mine! :) DON'T FORGET TO STUMP ME AT A MAXIMUM OF 2 TIMES!!!! :) NEW PRIZE--The new prize, I think, is all of the McDonald Power Ranger toys (Not the Zord Sets) which included the Communicator, Power Morpher, Alien Detector, and Monster Siren (?). With the Power Ranger fun-bag! :) Stop jumping up and down! If you hit your head, you'll faint like Kimberly on "White Light", Kimberly on "Wild West Rangers," and Kimberly on "When is a Ranger Not a Ranger?" Ouch! Quote 1 (Worth 1 point): "I wish it snowed here on Angel Grove...but it doesn't!" Quote 2 (Worth 2 points): "I don't want to hurt you. Just add you to my collection. You're mine now...mine forever. Just like all my goodies!" BTW, no Internet people have guessed. I just want you to know that you are eligible too. TRIVIA Well, everybody's doing well on the trivia. Billy, of course, created the communicators. Everyone who guessed got it right. He invented them on the 2nd episode: "High Five". I believe Jojo Stix got it right first, then RedRng, DavrosPrm, Chris7118, WhiteRng, Randi Twin, DarwnONeil, CVAdam, and then XSENTAIX. Here is the scoreboard: Jojo Stix: 2 points RedRng: 1 point DavrosPrm: 1 point Chris7118: 1 point (Even though, he got last one's right. Sorry, Chris. :( ) WhiteRng: 1 point Randi Twin: 1 point DarwnONeil: 1 point CVAdam: 1 point XSENTAIX: 5 points (He stumped me twice, got the quote right first, and got the trivia right.) POLLS Poll 1-Favorite Ranger BLUE RANGER-3 points GREEN RANGER-1 point PINK RANGER-8 points RED RANGER-1 point WHITE RANGER-2 points YELLOW RANGER-1 point CONRAD-1 point Non-Rangers BULK & SKULL-7 points RITA-1 point FINSTER-1 vote POLL 2 & 3 have not changed POLL 4-NOBODY'S PERFICT "The Trouble With Shellshock" "Green With Evil Part II (Jason's Battle)" "Different Drum" and "On 'The Rockstar', the whole episode is filled with mistakes. Here's some examples: Yellow and Black Ranger fall into a pool and are never helped out but later are out walking with the Rangers, dry. Jason leaves the Rangers to look for Jeremy and in the next scene, he is walking with the Rangers. Jason is walking and in the next scene he is the Red Ranger. Billy decides not to morph out and in the next scene, he joins the Power Rangers, looking for the Rangers as the Blue Ranger, etc. These are the types of mistakes that you'll see on that episode, but I'm not sure if those are the exact ones." MAXMOUZE "In 'Wild West Rangers III', Kimberly was back in time and the other Rangers summoned their zords to from the Mega Tigerzord, and the Firebird was there too." --CVAdam "Kimberly says 'Ooh...nice stereo' when she gets her new zord in both 'Day of the Dumpster' and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie." --Chris7118 "The words often are not in sync with the mouths of the characters who are supposedly speaking them." --ErBear53 "In 'Green With Evil Part V (Breaking the Spell)', Billy changes clothes. When they unmorph on the beach at the end, when Tommy is out from under Rita's spell, Billy has different clothes on but later in the Command Center, he has the same clothes on that he wore the entire episode." --DarwnONeil "On 'Green With Evil Part V (Breaking the Spell)', Green Ranger has a Bladeblaster in his hoster rather than the Dragondagger." --DarwnONeil "On 'A Pressing Engagement', a top view of the Megazord cockpit shows Green Ranger's insignia flashing on Red Ranger's Control Panel." --DarwnONeil "On 'A Pressing Engagement', the Power Sword is called the Mega Sword." -DarwnONeil "On 'Happy Birthday, Zack', at one point Zack jumps in the air with his axe but when he lands, he has his Bladeblaster out." --DarwnONeil "In 'Power Ranger Punks', Kimberly holds up her bow and you can see ZyuRanger printed on it." --DarwnONeil "On 'Gung Ho!', the new guns have ZyuRanger written on them as well, at one scene showing Jason with one attached to the back of his Bladeblaster, a mode they didn't use." --DarwnONeil "On 'Life's A Masquerade', Frankenstein is seen in the background although he blew up the last time." --DarwnONeil "In 'Two Flea or Not to Flee", Zordon tells the Rangers that the rash that Jason has can be spread by touching it but Kimberly touches Jason a lot and never gets it." --DarwnONeil "On 'Return of an Old Friend Part II,' Green Ranger has the Bladeblaster in his holster and it falls out in one fight scene." --DarwnONeil "On 'A Pig Surprise', they called the Power Sword, the Mega Sword." --DarwnONeil "In 'Trick or Treat', they call Power Blaster the Mega Blaster." --DarwnONeil "On, 'Second Chance', the sound that is made when they do the group attack is the same sound from Star Trek: Next Generation Transporter." MISTAKES...BY ME! Okay, last time I said that Chris1778 who said that in "The Trouble With Shellshock" Trini called Tommy Billy. Actually, it was DarwnONeil. I get these two confused. MIGHTY RAW IS NOT GOING TO BE FIRED, HE JUST IS NOT BEING ALLOWED TO DO THE COOL PROJECTS HE WANTS TO! FOCUS YOUR LETTER ON THAT! In Justin's review, I accidentally typed, "After I developed my Mental part of my martial arts , I began to work on the mental part. " It is supposed to be "Now that's complete, I began to work on the mental part." HE IS NOT A FOOL, IN OTHER WORDS! (I am!) Oshaun told me more about how the Megazord was created even though Jason was in another dimension: According to several people with better knowledge of Sentai than I, the various Zords (robots, etc.) used in Sentai are usually considered to be 'sentient beings' by themselves. Remember the Green Ranger didn't have to be inside of the DragonZord to control it. An analogy might be a horse -- a horse can trot, gallop, etc. on its own -- however it takes a rider for the horse to do more sophisticated things like show jumping -- the same with the Zords. They can function on their own and apparently develop an attachment to the Ranger 'assigned' to it. Over a period of time, a certain amount of trust develops as well between the Zords and all the Rangers of the group. Therefore when Jason was in Rita's dungeon on the moon and the other Rangers were in battle and called on DinoZord power the Tyrannosaurus came along. Supposedly in a case such as this the Zord by itself would not react as quickly as if its Ranger were present and once everyone is connected if the Ranger is still not present the MegaZord as well would not be as efficient. The Rangers themselves provide an ability to react quickly to new situations that the Zords might not be able to handle on their own and to plan battle strategies. Along the same lines, the Rangers feel bad when their Zords are damaged (it's like having your dog or cat get hurt) -- recall Tommy was very upset at the prospect of the DragonZord being destroyed by the Thunder MegaZord in Return of the Green Ranger part II. According to several people who've seen the original sentai footage of the Zyurangers -- after the Green Ranger died (in the Japanese storyline) and the other Rangers called their Zords - DragonCaesar (DragonZord in the MMPR) looked away sadly when he realized that the Green Ranger would not be there anymore. Hope this helps. It does--thanks, Oshaun! Now, it's time for today's MMPR profile. It's from DavrosPrm! This person, let's say, works behind the scenes, and gave me this info.: "Here's some info. on Cheryl Saban--she's an amazing writer (novels, TV, non-fiction), very beautiful, a devoted Mom, and a constant supporter of numerous charities." This anonymous fan also told me this: "Amy Jo wore a really cute blue dress to the movie premiere and is really, really petite. She came with some girlfriends -- no date that I could see." [Thank God!] SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: "Green Forever Part I, II, III, and IV" is now available. It is the Power Ranger script introducing Conrad, the new Green Ranger. HERE ARE THE SCRIPTS THAT YOU CAN ASK FOR: "Identity Crisis"--written by Justin Harvey. SUMMARY: The Rangers get excited about the school masquerade dance. But, the excitement is ruined when Zedd sends down the evil Repizard, a cross between a reptile and a wizard, to use his magic against the Rangers. "One In A Million"--written by Mark Oxman. SUMMARY: Rocky is the one-millionth customer to enter the Juice Bar and wins $100 and becomes annoyingly obsessed with money. Can he defeat this big money problem? "Treasure Hunt Part I"--written by Mark Oxman The Crystal of Invincibility, a crystal that can recreate monsters and make them undefeatable, arrives in the Angel Grove Forest and Zedd has his sights on it. Can the Rangers win the hunt to find the treasure in time? Treasure Hunt Part II--written by Mark Oxman Zedd and the Rangers continue looking for the Crystal. Meanwhile, Rita sends down her best monsters: Shellshock, Samurai Fan Man, Gnarly Gnome, Terror Toad, and Eye Guy, to destroy the Rangers with their amazing powers (Hypnotizing, eating, trapping, freezing, and taking the Rangers.) The monsters are successful in destroying all of the Rangers except Kim. Will she be enough to defeat Zedd's newest monster, Treasure Chest, AND get the Crystal before it falls into the wrong hands? "All That Glitters Isn't Gold Part I"--written by Mark Oxman Four new students join the Rangers' martial arts class. Meanwhile, Finster creates a powerful monster with a LOT of magic--Villain. While morphing out, a Gold Ranger appears and battles the monster--and no one knows who he or she is. Can the Rangers solve the mystery and defeat Villain in time? "All That Glitters Isn't Gold Part II"--written by Mark Oxman The Gold Ranger saves the others from danger. Later, they learn that the newest Ranger is one of the newest martial art students. "All That Glitters Isn't Gold Part III"--written by Mark Oxman The Rangers struggle in a dungeon under Lord Zedd's palace as Tommy is the only Ranger left to save them. Tommy and Alpha must construct a spaceship capable of sending Tommy to the moon to save his friends. Can he build the ship, defeat Villain, save his friends, and solve a mystery at the same time? Or, will he need a special power to do so? "Green Forever Part I"--written by Justin Harvey After losing a battle in the future, the new Green Ranger must travel back to 1995 to warn and help his friends of the past. But, it will take more than a new Ranger to help when Zedd sends Carnage, a mixture of five different monsters (Snizzard, Pete & Repeat, Mighty Mantis, Rhinoblaster, and Lizzinator), down to Earth to fight the Power Rangers. Will this new Ranger be enough to save the world of this repellent monster? "Green Forever Part II"--written by Justin Harvey Conrad, the new Ranger, tells the others his story. Meanwhile, the villains cook up a scheme to make Conrad evil! Meanwhile, Carnage attacks Angel Grove again and teleports the Rangers to another dimension. Conrad uses his skills to save the power coins before they disappear. With these coins, can Conrad destroy Carnage and save his friends? "Green Forever Part III"--written by Justin Harvey Trouble appears in Angel Grove when Zedd, Rita, and Goldar appear from a time hole in the future. "Green Forever Part IV"--written by Justin Harvey A very good friend of the Power Rangers finds out the secret identity of the Power Rangers! But, more trouble appears when the Rangers must use their Ninja zords to battle a giant Lord Zedd and Rita. Will Conrad get his powers back in time to help the Rangers defeat these two villains? Now, for the interview with Karan Ashley. This interview comes from Teen Beat's September 1995 issue: --Teen Beat ("The Power Rangers Get Personal!".) _Teen Beat_. New York: The Sterling/McFadden Partnership, September, 1995. Pg. 84.) Now, here is her interview with Teen Beat (TB): TB: "What's one stunt from the movie that was especially exciting to do?" KA: "We had to do this one thing where we were up in the air about 50 or 60 feet and we parachuted down. We were on wires and they let the wires go and we went down. That was kind of fun. The funny thing about that was we had to do it so many times and you're just up there in the air doing back flips. We had just eaten dinner and then it was my turn. By the time I was actually done, I had done it about ten times and I got sick! I took off my helmet and just threw up right there!" TB: "Have you had any gymnastic or stunt training?" KA: "Actually, I'm a dancer and that's how I got the show. I practice on a trampoline and mini tram, so I've gotten it down to where I can do some flips and learned some for the movie. But I would never call myself a gymnast!" TB: "Did you do any sightseeing while you were in Australia?" KA: "I did some whenever I had the opportunity to go and do it. I had friends come at Christmas time. It was kind of fun because I didn't spend Christmas alone. I showed them the city and we did a lot of sightseeing then. It was a beautiful city, a great place to see." TB: "What can you tell us about Aisha, your Power Rangers character?" KA: "She's the Yellow Ranger and she's the type of girl who loves to have fun. Even through the toughest situations she's always looks to the positive side of everything. She likes to dance and shop. She's like any other teenage girl but she happens to be a super hero as well!" TB: "In what ways are you like her and unlike her?" KA: "I'm very positive. I probably make Aisha the positive side of myself. She's always happy. I'm that kind of person, always happy, always positive. She's a really easy character to play because they wrote her around me. So it's very easy to be her, except that I don't get to save the world for real! If I could do that, it would be great!" TB: "We're looking forward to seeing you in the movie!" KA: "I recommend the movie to kids of all ages, not just younger kids because this movie is not just for younger kids. It's definitely an action/adventure movie that I think children and adults will love. Check it out because the monsters are wonderful. They're even better than the ones on the TV show and there's a lot more action and a lot more stuff happening. And I think a lot of people will enjoy it!" Thank you, Teen Beat. And, that you Karan. :) IMPORTANT: MMPR SIM by Justin Harvey OK, the first sim is being put off until next Friday. }:-( There were so many things that needed to be worked on. We have about 8 Rangers already. Some on which with a color I've never heared of. }:-P We will still take more Ranger roles, but if you want, we could use some of you as bad guys. Goldar, Zedd, Rita, etc. (Maybe we should go to the "Power Rangers suck" board for these parts! }:-P ) OK, I'm trying to get the list of people together. All of you who have a role in the sim... E-mail me what Ranger you are again. And those of you who don't have a part yet, let me know which one you want. If it's not taken, it's yours. If it is, I'll let you know. BE SURE WHEN YOU CONTACT ME THAT YOU SEND TO XSENTAIX and FIM1UR2. FIM1UR2 is another account I have. JUSTIN HARVEY ( GREEN RANGER ) Next Friday (the 14th) here is the info. to get to the room [More info. in the next nls]: (Keyword: People, List rooms; Private room; Type: MMPRsim.) The name of the room is MMPRsim. This is going to be cool! IF YOU DON'T HAVE AOL, TRY TO FIND A WAY TO USE IT (Like a friend. :) ) MMPR Movie Review of the day: B A C L (He doesn't know I'm using it but I like it so much, I will.) "Well, I just saw MMPR the movie. I enjoyed it very much. It did lack a few things, and the middle almost crawled at a few moments, but all in all, it was well worth seeing. I hope that there will be many sequels to it. I basically only strongly disagreed with two things, #1, Zedd, Rita, and Baboo, Squatt and Finster should have been in it. The two scenes that had Rita and Zedd in this movie were truly the best. It was so funny when Rita said, "You spent 2,000 years looking for a bowl of snot!" And the best line was when Zedd said, "Finally, someone's found out how to shut her up!" The only thing I didn't like was the fact that Bulk and Skull were merely in two scenes as well. They could have been given a few more, and possibly thought of the heroic act, instead of just being in the background. Besides those things, the movie was great! I think Zedd's new castle was so perfect, it's scary! The bits with Zordon were great, and that fact that no one died, or even got so much as a cut of the Command Center, and of Zedd's castle for the new season. It is disappointing to think that when the show commences, it will be back to 80% recycled footage. Anyway, the movie was great (Did I say that already, let me restate that!)" --B A C L. Thanks, Brian Andrew Clark! Loved it! :) DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE PREMIERE EPISODE OF THE THIRD SEASON WILL BE ON PRIMETIME LIKE "THE MUTINY" WAS. THAT WAS COOL! :) Well, tune in next time when the spotlight is on Johnny Yong Bosch (From Terri Ann C.'s FAQ guide), an interview with Karan Ashley (From Teen Beat's Sept. issue), and, because of lack of space: updated info. on where the Original Rangers are now, Amy Jo on a game show (As a young one), and THUY'S NEW TV SHOW, all from Terri Ann C.'s FAQ guide!
